When you receive the Seal you become a peaceful person. But you do not compromise your spiritual Life in order to make or keep peace with people of the world. Just like you, Israel is not compromising but building new Jerusalem settlements. The east side of Jerusalem is contested. The Palestinians claim it as their home and future capital of the Palestinian state they dream about. The Israelis are unwilling to stop making new settlements there.

Indeed, the Israelis are making plans for 300 new homes in east Jerusalem right now. This flies in the face of their other plans–the peace talks in Annapolis. The Palestinians complain that these settlements will undermine the peace process. Israel captured east Jerusalem from Palestine in the 1967 war, and Palestine has never relinquished claims on east Jerusalem as her own land and her own capital. Furthermore, Israel agreed to stop new settlements.

That is an agreement according to the “road map” peace plan promoted by the international community. And Israel is falling behind in demolition of over 3,300 homes in the West Bank as it had agreed upon doing. The homes have been ordered demolished, but only a little more than 100 actually have been. But there are no new settlements planned for the contested West Bank, just new ones in Jerusalem.

Israel says that Jerusalem is not part of the road map peace plan. And truly it is not. The final step of the peace plan allows Israel and the Palestinians to make an agreement about what to do with Jerusalem. So those new settlements planned for Jerusalem are not really in violation of the road map. The Palestinians feel violated but the road map is not broken. East Jerusalem is still available for either state to take.

Also now Islamic militants in Gaza have been firing rockets and mortars on Israel, and her patience is running out. There are no plans yet to invade the Gaza Strip but when the attackers are identified they will be killed. So there are plans for peace and there is at best a shaky peace. But there are still numerous attacks, and in the peace process the Palestinians would have to hold up their end of the bargain by stopping the attacks.

And the Palestinians show no capability of keeping the peace. If Israel is making a bold move by planning settlements in the Palestinian side of Jerusalem, then the Palestinians are equally at fault for allowing the attacks from Gaza strip. Israel can simply stop certain settlements and abandon others. But the Palestinians have not yet proven they can stop certain militant people from making any more attacks in order to keep peace.

When you receive the Seal sometimes you are in the position Israel is in. You are attacked and opposed by people persecuting you, the same people making demands that you yield to them part of your Promised Land. You have to choose which is more important, the whole of your Promised Land or a dubious peace with those who persecute you. But the people of God are always persecuted by those who do not know God.

And therein is the mockery. The attackers of Israel claim to be more religious than others. But the persecutors do not know God as the persecuted who are chosen of God. When you are sealed you will suffer opposition from people. And you can make peace if you wish, but you will always have your Promised Land God has given to you when you receive the seal.
